Help for Karlsruhe food banks

First of all: note from the editor-in-chief

Ukraine Support Karlsruhe (USKA) is now offering two parallel donation options. In addition to the possibility of supporting the artist project ESCAPE! to support, there is now the additional possibility of helping the food banks on site in Karlsruhe in the form of a monetary donation. With the first donation option, we have Oliver Langewitz as a partner, the Filmboard Karlsruhe, while with the second donation option, the Lions Club Karlsruhe-Baden, in the person of Manfred Verhaagh, acts as the switching station.

After technical and organizational clarification, the highly committed Manfred kindly gave me the text for the appeal for donations to the Karlsruher Tafel e. V., which I am happy to publish (below) and of course would like to call on me to actively participate in the 1st or 2nd option to donate. Thank you very much for your support. The Ukrainians who have just been expelled from their homeland or will be expelled are certainly very grateful for any form of help!

Now following: Text by Manfred Verhaagh, Lions Club Karlsruhe-Baden:

Long queues in front of the Tafel – please help us to support the Karlsruher Tafel (food bank).

The voluntary food banks make an important contribution to providing people with little money with cheap food. In times of brutal war in Ukraine, they face multiple challenges: on the one hand, food donations are declining, on the other hand, due to rising inflation, more people are dependent on the supply, including many refugees from Ukraine since March. (See links to further information at the end).

The Lions-Hilfe Karlsruhe-Baden e.V. has already supported the work of the Karlsruher Tafel and the Beiertheimer Tafel in the past and would like to do so again. We make the following offer to all donors: We will double every donated EURO by May 15th 31st (being extended!) up to a total donation amount of EUR 5,000, i.e. we will add a maximum of EUR 5,000 from our association to the donated amount. We use the donations to buy non-perishable groceries, which are passed on to the needy customers registered there via the food banks.

As a recognized non-profit association, we will be happy to issue you with a donation receipt if you give us your address when making the transfer. For donations of up to EUR 300, your payment slip to our account is sufficient as proof for the tax office.

Please transfer your donation with the keyword “USKA Lions Tafelspende” to the account of
